BetaDen’s alumni wins ‘Tech Entrepreneur’ Award at Women in Tech awards 2022

BetaDen’s Cohort 5.0 founder Paula Bedborough of Secure Socialising has won a Tech Entrepreneur Award at this year’s Women In Tech Awards.

Paula is on a mission to make nights out safer, helping people to have a great, stress-free time when they are out.

She said: “With a lot of support from a range of amazing partners and advisors, and the patience and positivity of my manufacturing partner Martin Rigley MBE, I have developed a tech-based solution that helps people to store their belongings and charge their phones, which enables people to store their handbags, ID, and laptops, so you can have a great night out and not become a victim of a crime that can have serious and lasting effects.”

Secure Socialising is a project that Paula took to BetaDen, Worcestershire’s first technology accelerator, to elevate her route to market and gain professional support and funding. The project looks at how technology can be used to promote safe socialising and support outstanding customer experiences. They have developed a keyless smart locker system made for spaces where people meet or socialise, and are currently working on a new app for smartphones to make the Secure Socialising experience even more intuitive. They are a Worldpay Technology Partner and have also developed a new payment system, the first of its kind. Their smart lockers will help to reduce crime and vulnerability and help people to have a stress-free experience.

Earlier this year, the founder and director of Secure Socialising, Paula Bedborough, has been shortlisted as a finalist for 2 categories at this year’s Women In Tech Awards – ‘Tech Entrepreneur’ category and ‘Innovator’ category. There were 340 women nominated and over 10,000 votes cast at this prestigious event.

It is with great honour to share that Paula’s hard work has been recognised by winning the ‘Tech Entrepreneur’ award.

Paula said: “I am absolutely delighted to have won the Tech Entrepreneur Award this evening. What an amazing event… A huge thanks to the BetaDen team and all the mentors for all of your invaluable advice and support. It’s been an absolutely incredible few months since I was lucky enough to join you”.
