Businesses invited to support HoW College work placement programme

Heart of Worcestershire College is on the lookout for local businesses to help support and facilitate their work placement programme.

As part of each student’s course, they are required to complete work placements consisting of one block  week or one day a week for a period of five weeks within a company. Typical placements for IT and Business students include: Finance, Marketing, HR, IT, Legal, Customer Service, Retail, Technical Support, Developers/coding and Web and Multimedia opportunities.

Students benefit greatly from working in the industry; gaining key employability skills to enhance their job applications and interviews.

As well as the students, each employer is rewarded with a number of benefits including; raising the company’s profile in the business sector, improving staff retention, growing talent, inspiring and informing young people and developing current employees by involving them in the supervision of young people.

Speaking about working with the College, Michelle Wood, Sanctuary’s Group Head of Learning and Development, said: “Our partnerships with local schools and colleges in Worcester have allowed us to deliver sought after work experience placements to students in a range of business areas. Not only do these programmes provide young people with a valuable insight into the world of work, but also with a chance to gain practical and hands on experience, and discover how a commercially-driven organisation operates.”
