Toys for Tots is a new charitable scheme set up by the Worcester Community Trust in collaboration with the H&W Chamber of Commerce and the Worcestershire Ambassadors. The scheme aims to make Christmas special for disadvantaged children around the region.
Employees at County Hall, AKW, Hewett Recruitment and Worcester Bosch have already agreed to support the scheme. Their employees will be encouraged to think about other children when they are out Christmas shopping -just by buying one more gift they could make that difference to child who might be facing an entirely different Christmas to theirs.
All they need do is purchase the gift and leave it under the tree in participating offices and WCT will do the rest. The gifts will be collected, logged, sorted and distributed by WCT with 50% of the toys donated going to Grottos set up within their 6 community centres. The companies involved will then be able to select a local children’s charity that they’d like to donate the remaining 50% of the gifts to.
Toys for Tots is the brainchild of Richard Soper CBE who is now active within the WCT and saw an opportunity to spread Christmas cheer. Tudor Grange school are also involved and students have helped to design the poster and co-ordinate the scheme.
Businesses are being asked to donate their toys for tots before 16 December. If your company would like to get involved then please contact Sally Wyatt from the Worcester Community Trust by emailing toys@worcestercommunitytrust.org.uk or by phoning 01905 453453 ext 106.
