Careers helpline launched for young people in Worcestershire

A new careers helpline has been launched for Worcestershire to help young people understand what their career options are.

Students across Worcestershire have now left school a lot earlier than planned, thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic. Many of these students may be unsure of what step to take next, and if you or someone you know would like some advice, then call Careers Worcestershire.

The new Careers Worcestershire dedicated helpline has been launched to help young people through these testing times, and help answer any questions they may have on what is next for them.

The helpline is being run by qualified advisors and they will be able to help to offer advice and support on the following:

  • Support for 16 – 24 year olds looking for education or training choices
  • Information on next steps in sixth form and sixth form colleges in Worcestershire
  • Information on Apprenticeships and support with applications
  • Information on finding and accessing full time courses at colleges
  • Information about University choices and the process for year 13s
  • Support to access English and maths support

Please call 0300 666 3 666 or email to take your next step.

Councillor Marcus Hart, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Education and Skills, said: “The Coronavirus pandemic has changed the traditional path for the students leaving school this year, but that doesn’t mean the advice and support shouldn’t be available for our parents and students to access.

I’m really pleased that the Careers Worcestershire team have created a helpline to help offer some clarity, advice and support to both students and parents at a really testing time.”

Gary Woodman, Chief Executive of Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “The launch of this helpline is targeted at 16 to 24 year olds who require information, advice and guidance on their next steps with their future career.  Whether thinking of going on to 6th Form or Further Education, finding an apprenticeship placement or looking to apply for a full time course at University. A quick call with the team can answer all your questions and allow you to plan.  No need to sit at home and worry, this service can help you now. ”
