Businesses are being given the chance to pledge their support for the Inspiring Worcestershire campaign to help create their future workforce.
The Inspiring Worcestershire campaign was launched at the Worcestershire LEP 2018 Annual Conference and aims to get local employers working with schools to help connect businesses with their future workforce. Worcestershire LEP recognise the need for a skilled workforce of tomorrow and the challenge is enabling young people to understand their skills and how they fit in the county’s future economic picture.
Organisations can get involved in a variety of ways, such as; by taking part in assembly talks to schools, supporting young people with mock interviews and CV workshops, attending careers events like the Worcestershire Skills Show and offering work experience or apprenticeship opportunities, to name just a few.
By taking part, businesses will get to engage with local students and help them develop their career aspirations and skills, whilst potentially also developing their staff of the future.
The first year of the campaign was a great success with numerous employers from across the county getting involved in one way or another. The campaign also helped with the county’s most successful careers event, the Worcestershire Skills Show, which had over 100 businesses exhibiting and 5,000 young people in attendance.
