Chief Executive’s Blog – 3 October 2016

Worcestershire is continuing to raise its profile on an international level and we have several upcoming opportunities to promote the county overseas.

This week I shall be joining key partners to discuss how we can further promote World Class Worcestershire as an ideal place to live, work and invest. The Department for International Trade’s research has recently shown that a total of 1,178 jobs were created or safeguarded locally as a result of Foreign Direct investment and raising the profile of the county internationally is an important part creating these jobs. Worcestershire continues to benefit from a combined approach among partners and I look forward to hearing other organisations’ plans for going forward.

Later this week, I shall be joining the University of Worcester and some of Worcestershire LEP’s Board members in a business visit to Valencia, to discuss how Worcestershire is helping to develop local businesses. We will be discussing the importance of entrepreneurship and start-ups in the county and how businesses growth is vital for the economy. This is a fantastic opportunity to spread the message that Worcestershire is an ideal County with the right support available for those who are looking to grow their business.

We are now nearly one month away from our Annual Conference on 4 November and I look forward to discussing the incredible progress the County has made in the last year. We will be able to report on our success of raising Worcestershire’s profile, as well as discussing the three other key areas of our plan for growing the local economy; planning and infrastructure, raising the skills of our workforce and developing business support. We have already received a lot of interest in the event and with over 475 businesses expected at the event, I would encourage you to register your attendance at the earliest opportunity.
