Worcestershire LEP will invest: £950,000
The Worcestershire LEP is investing £950,000 in the Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) which will support engineering apprenticeships in particular by providing a new specialist facility in partnership with Worcestershire’s training provider, the Worcester Group Training Association.
The Centre of Vocational Excellence will enable the WLEP to continue the upskilling of the County’s workforce and has had proven success with the quality and quantity of apprenticeships delivered.
The number of apprenticeships in the county has grown considerably in recent years. During 2013/14 more than 10,000 people actively participated in an apprenticeship programme in Worcestershire, which is more than four times the number in 2011.
Construction is now in full swing, with the steel frames erected and roof installation in progress. The units are due for completion early 2017 and will create 20 new jobs, providing training for several hundred learners each year at all levels, including Higher Apprenticeships.
