Director of Operations, Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership

Salary: £55,000 p.a. (negotiable) + benefits, Location: Worcester initially with potential relocation within Worcestershire, Full time: 37 hours, Possible secondment from partner organisations available

We have an immediate requirement for a Director of Operations to join the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (WLEP). The WLEP is responsible for creating and delivering economic growth and jobs in the County, which is achieved through a partnership approach with business, local government, the third sector and higher and further education working together with a common, shared purpose.

The main function of this role is to lead and manage the delivery of LEP funded activity, working with the Chief Executive and the LEP Board to ensure successful delivery of the LEP’s projects and programmes.

You will be responsible for the successful implementation and review of the LEP Assurance Framework, will provide reports for the LEP Board and others on the implementation of funded activity and advise on corrective action where necessary.

You will lead on the co-ordination of operational delivery across the LEP, including giving support to the Chair, Board and groups established to deliver the strategic, business and financial plans, liaising with all relevant Government Departments and the Cities and Local Growth Teams on issues relating to LEP performance.

You will also generate concepts and ideas in response to national or local programmes and opportunities and develop agreed proposals into deliverable projects, whilst working to attract and facilitate further investment in Worcestershire and deputising for the Chief Executive as required.

The successful candidate will have proven experience of developing and implementing economic development projects in the private, public or voluntary sectors, be methodical and well organised, with an ability to manage heavy workloads. The candidate will also produce high quality work to tight deadlines and have excellent communication skills at a senior level with partners, stakeholders, media, businesses and the general public.

You will have the ability to summarise complex issues for presentation to a range of audiences, including the Worcestershire LEP Board, stakeholder groups and the business community as well as having strong negotiation skills and knowledge and understanding of business issues, economic development and regeneration.

Extensive experience of interacting with a range of public and private sector organisations is a necessity and you must have proven experience of attracting business investment.

Whilst the post is responsible to the Chief Executive of the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, you will be employed by the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, a member-led, not for profit organisation which works to support the local business community and our network of members.
