This week’s Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards 2017 is set to celebrate the growing successes of local apprenticeships, with 30 of the best apprentices, employers, training providers and schools shortlisted for awards.
A record number of entries have progressed through to the finals across all 10 categories, which have received great support from local sponsoring companies. This year’s finalists will be recognised for their outstanding achievements at the awards ceremony on Thursday 16 November at Tree Tops Pavilion, West Midland Safari Park, where the winners in each category will be announced.
This year’s awards will be presented by comedian, author and star of BBC Radio 4, Mark Watson. Following his TV appearances on Live at the Apollo, Task Master and Bear Grylls’ Celebrity Island, Mark Watson is set to welcome a record 360 people to this year’s Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards 2017.
The popular celebration event will culminate in the two overall awards of Apprenticeship Employer of the Year, which is sponsored by Yamazaki Mazak UK Ltd and Apprentice of the Year, sponsored by the Worcester Bosch Group, to recognise outstanding achievement.
Mark Watson, Event Host, Comedian, Author and Star of BBC Radio 4, said: “Congratulations to everyone who has made it through to the finals of the Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards 2017. Everybody knows the importance of apprenticeships in providing younger generations with the opportunities that they need to achieve their ambitions and I am really looking forward to celebrating some of Worcestershire’s most successful apprentices, apprenticeship employers, training providers and schools at the awards.”
Gary Woodman, Chief Executive of Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards is the key date in every business’ calendar for celebrating the achievements of our county’s exceptional apprenticeships. I always look forward to attending the awards and I would like to wish all finalists the best of luck for the awards.”
Cllr Marcus Hart, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Education and Skills at Worcestershire County Council added: “Worcestershire really does excel from having a fantastic amount of support available for apprenticeships across the county and the awards is a perfect way of highlighting this support. I would urge any businesses who are considering employing an apprentice to visit the Worcestershire Apprenticeships website, www.worcsapprenticeships.org.uk”
