Worcestershire businesses can take advantage of free digital skills training before the end of the financial year.
The offer of a free workshop and free mentoring session is part of ‘Digital Essentials’, a programme delivering vital digital skills training to Worcestershire-based businesses.
The programme is supported by Worcestershire.Business.Central and Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership.
The National Cyber Skills Centre (NCSC), based in Malvern, is offering these free workshops, normally priced at £85 per person.
Workshops, which are usually three hours long and are available to all Worcestershire-based SMEs, are running from January 2015 until the end of March 2015 at various locations across Worcestershire. Places are limited and so businesses are being encouraged to take up the offer quickly.
Subjects include Internet Security; Digital Forensics; Digital Marketing; Ethical Hacking.
A free one-to-one mentoring session will also be available after the workshop, to implement what has been learned into a practical working environment.
Cllr Simon Geraghty, Worcestershire County Council Cabinet Member for Economy, Skills and Infrastructure, said: “Digital Essential workshops are ideal for businesses wanting to gain an understanding and grounding in cyber security, digital branding and broader digital skills such as social media strategies. I would encourage all Worcestershire-based SMEs to take advantage of these free workshops.”
Peter Pawsey, Executive Chairman of the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, added: “The National Cyber Skills Centre in Malvern is the recognised centre of excellence for digital skills. These free workshops will hugely benefit local SMEs but places are limited and so I would urge businesses to register at the earliest opportunity. Cyber Security is one of Worcestershire’s key growth sectors and offers massive quality job opportunities for our young people in the future.”
There are currently 21 workshops with 240 places; to find out more and to book, go to www.cyberskillscentre.com/essentials. To access one free workshop enter the voucher code NCSC-DE.
