H & W Chamber of Commerce Job Vacancy – Business and Skills Strategy Manager

Full-time – 37 hours
£40,000 – £50,000 + benefits

The Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (WLEP) has an exciting opportunity for a Business and Skills Strategy Manager to be employed by the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, a member-led, not for profit organisation that works to support the local business community.  This new post will lead, animate and develop the WLEP’s ambitions for business growth and skills development.

Your main duties will include, leading on the continuous development and delivery of LEP skills and business support strategies, as well as generating concepts and ideas in response to national or local programmes and developing agreed proposals into deliverable projects, whilst identifying and maximising available funding and investment to achieve the goals.

You will also work to attract and facilitate further investment in Worcestershire, deputise for the Executive Director as required and develop a virtual team which will be line managed by other partner organisations with the aim of delivering a wide ranging and dynamic programme of activities.

The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of work e.g. project management, economic regeneration or economic development, will have extensive proven experience of developing and implementing business support and skills projects in the private, public or voluntary sectors, and have a strong knowledge and understanding of business issues, economic development & regeneration.

You should be methodical and well organised as well as having excellent communication skills at a senior level and strong negotiation skills with the ability to align differing views to achieve common goals.

You should have evidence of creative and innovative working and be a self starter who is able to work to and meet performance targets whilst being flexible, working well with others, and capable of performing under pressure.

The post will be on a full time basis but will be subject to annual conformation of the WLEP’s budget by the UK Government.
