We are recruiting for a Business Engagement Manager to provide a high level dedicated Account Management and Business Engagement service to Worcestershire companies. We would be particularly interested in applicants with experience of one or more of the following sectors, Agri-Tech, Advanced Manufacturing or Defence & Security, although this is not necessarily compulsory for application.
“Worcestershire Business Central” the Worcestershire Growth Hub is expanding the current excellent service to create a focus for business engagement provided by both the public and private sectors. This service will now be delivered by the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership.
As a result, we have an exciting opportunity for a Business Engagement Manager to be employed by the The Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, which is a member-led, not for profit organisation which works to support the local business community. The Business Engagement Manager will engage with businesses in the county and become the link to support for the business. The Business Engagement Manager will ideally be a sector lead in either Agri-Tech, Advanced Manufacturing or Defence & Security.
Your main purpose will be to lead on the priority sector, building up specialist knowledge of the sector and the local businesses within it, helping those businesses to grow and thrive through a high level dedicated account management service. You will be required to be their link to strategic business advice on either specific or general business issues, collate & record information on specific companies and provide suitable solutions to the business. You will also maintain key stakeholder relationships with local, regional and national stakeholders including UKTI, Local Economic Partnerships (LEPs), Local Authorities, Universities, BIS Local, Science Parks, and various organisations including MAS, NAS, EEF, IOD.
You will need to develop and implement a strategy to commercialise an element of the current delivery service to ensure the long term viability of the service and to review the target market to identify new sector focussed scale up businesses for future engagement.
Experience / Skills
Excellent communication, interpersonal & presentation skills with the ability to engage & communicate with senior business leaders. Results driven with an ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Educated to degree level or equivalent and with strong commercial skills with a minimum of 5 years commercial experience in the priority sector of the role applied for. An understanding of standard business functions including sales & marketing, international trade, finance, PR, human resources and strategic business planning. As such, an understanding of the vast range of issues facing businesses including local, regional and national policy is essential.
Proven time management skills and flexibility with regard to working hours but with the ability to work within a team. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Systems.
