New Graduate support programme launched for businesses

Worcestershire County Council is providing financial support for local businesses looking to employ a recent graduate, in a bid to retain talent and skills within the county.

The Here2Help Business Support Team’s Graduate Grant Programme is able to provide grant funding of up to £6250 for eligible businesses when they recruit a graduate into a new role.

Investing in a graduate can really help improve the profitability and productivity of your business.  Recent studies show that employers can expect a return of 500% to 800% when they hire new graduates, meaning those initial recruitment and training expenses will pay for themselves and the business will benefit from fresh ideas and a new perspective to help drive creativity and innovation.

The grant will cover 50% of the graduate’s salary up to a maximum of £6,250 over the first 6 months of employment. The grant is paid retrospectively on a quarterly basis and is available to appoint those who fully graduated in 2020, 2021 or 2022. Recruitment must take place following the award of the grant and employers are responsible for the recruitment and selection process themselves.

To qualify, your business must be predominantly B2B, be located within the Worcestershire, have up to 250 employees and be trading for at least 3 years.  The appointed graduate should be a resident of Worcestershire or have recently graduated from the University of Worcester.
