One of the 2018-19 Junior Internship cohort has secured an internship placement at Morgan Motor Company in Malvern.
Blog for George Perry, Worcester Sixth Form, part of the 2018/19 Junior Internship Programme
Since an age of 11 when George participated in the Stem Project at Nunnery Wood School he had always wanted to be an engineer in either Motorsport or Civil (like his Uncle and cousin). George’s placement at Morgan for the Junior Internship Programme was therefore the perfect opportunity to truly put his passion into practice and fully immerse himself in the experience. You can see George really getting stuck in and assisting in the manufacturing process of these beautiful cars.
George said “I really like it here at Morgan, it really is hands-on and feels like a proper job. I really enjoy the mentoring which gives a useful chance to ask additional questions about how I could progress further in this area.”
About his future plans, George hopes to find a degree apprenticeship opportunity and is hoping he might be able to do this at Morgan.
The Junior Internship Programme is entering its second year following its pilot which helped 14 students from Worcester Sixth Form and Heart of Worcestershire College, by providing the opportunity to be linked to a Worcestershire employer for the two-year programme. During this time, each student matched with an employer for two weeks of work experience each year (four weeks in total), with monthly mentoring provided by that employer. Recruitment for the 2nd cohort of Junior Interns will commence during the Autumn term.
