Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership are proud to sponsor the county’s first outdoor science event.
The free to attend ‘Malvern Science in the Park’ family fun day takes place on Saturday 1 July 2017, in Priory Park, Great Malvern from 10.30am – 4.30pm. Responding to the national skills shortage in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects, the social enterprise Innovate Malvern is organising the event with support from the Malvern Hills District Council and other Gold Sponsor the Institute of Physics.
Evidence shows that engaging young minds at primary school and early secondary school leads to better outcomes for STEM achievements later on, and lays the foundation for STEM related careers. The action packed day will be full of interactive activities and live performances to excite and inspire in equal measure. There will be hands-on workshops and experiments, science trails to follow, and a programme of timetabled shows and activities throughout the day including the Kings School Worcester Science Show and Flux Dance Theatre workshop.
Exhibitors include the Institute of Physics, the Institution of Engineering Technology, and local business Komatsu (formerly Joy Mining) who will be demonstrating the use of table-top trebuchets to launch soft projectiles.
