Midlands businesses have just one week left to enter the Innovation 50

Businesses from across the West Midlands are being urged to act fast to enter the Midlands Innovation 50, an in-depth index of the region’s most forward-thinking companies led by law firm Mills & Reeve.

Companies have just one week to submit their details, which will then be assessed by a panel of expert judges before the top 50 are announced in the biennial index. Launched in 2017 by Mills & Reeve, the list is the Midlands’ only innovation-focused ranking system and is designed to celebrate the most ground-breaking businesses and recognise the contribution they make to the region.

Entrants will be assessed for the results that their innovations have delivered to their business, customers and communities, and are invited across sectors including manufacturing, engineering and utilities, creative and digital, science, technology and healthcare, retail, consumer and leisure and financial services.

Steve Allen, head of the Birmingham office at Mills & Reeve, said: “The Midlands is the home of innovation and talent and we want to showcase and celebrate this. Innovation is everywhere, from life sciences to leisure developments, and our Innovation 50 campaign is about shining a spotlight on those that are leading the way. We’ve already had lots of strong entries but we know that there are plenty more pioneering companies that deserve to be recognised.”

“Birmingham-based intelligent building design and engineering company Vanti was included in Mills & Reeve’s 2017 Innovation 50 and says being recognised in this way has helped to build both profile and credibility.”

Chief Operating Officer Faye Pressly said: “The Innovation 50 came along at exactly the right time for Vanti, forming a crucial part of our growing momentum and really helped to put us on the map. We feel that we really go the extra mile to consider our end-users and inclusion in the 50 gave us that recognition.”

Companies have until 11.59pm on 30 April to submit their details, which can be done quickly and easily in video or written format.  Following submission, entries will be assessed by business leaders from across the region on the benefits the innovation has brought to the business, customers and the wider community. Those judged to be in the 50 top performing innovators will be featured in a printed copy of the Innovation 50 report, distributed across the Midlands and available for download.
