Opportunity to join the Worcestershire LEP Business Board

The Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (WLEP) is a public/private sector partnership responsible for driving economic and jobs growth together with new business opportunities across Worcestershire.

Having recently helped Worcestershire to achieve the highest growth in productivity and higher level workforce skills in the UK, WLEP is now advertising the opportunity for new members to join its Business Board and is searching for enthusiastic and knowledgeable business representatives with a commitment to Worcestershire.

The Business Board is an important part of the LEP governance arrangements and provides a sounding board for advice and feedback to the Board to ensure that the voices of local businesses are heard, as well as being a conduit to facilitate wider engagement with leaders in the business, public and third sector communities.

The Candidates:

We are looking for energetic Business Board Members who are CEOs, Directors or Entrepreneurs, possessing the following qualities:

  • A passion for Worcestershire and working to the benefit of the county
  • Significant experience of leadership within a successful business
  • Well organised and well-connected to business and other organisations

The LEP Business Board meets 6 times a year (or more frequently as required) to address the big issues and solutions that would stimulate business growth and create jobs in the local economy.

These are unpaid non-executive roles requiring a maximum of between one and two days a month. It is not a decision-making body but acts in an advisory capacity, informing and influencing the decisions of the LEP Board.

The LEP Business Board maintains a geographical and sector spread of business interests across its membership, each of whom are either key Worcestershire employers or representative of small-medium size businesses that have the ambitions to consolidate the position and influence of Worcestershire’s private sector. Business Board members serve a three year term at the end of which they may either step down or seek re-election for a maximum period of a further two years.

To apply for Business Board membership, please send your completed Business Board Application Form together with a current CV and a statement of your interests and potential contribution to diane.dwyers@wlep.co.uk

The closing date for applications is Friday 7 July 2017. Interviews will take place during July.
