The final phase of flood alleviation works in Upton remain on track to be completed in Spring. Work resumed on 7 January after a break over the festive period, which saw the new road open temporarily to keep traffic on the A4104 as free flowing as possible.
Phase 3 of the Upton flood alleviation scheme has already seen a new temporary road and footpath built next to the main road, currently being used for all traffic and pedestrians. At the end of last year, the scheme saw 26 culverts inserted under the main road, which continues to be rebuilt at a higher level. These huge drainage systems are set to help prevent flooding by allowing water to pass under the road.
