Worcestershire businesses are encouraged to enter the Queens Awards

Earlier this year it was announced that three Worcestershire-based companies had been recognised within the prestigious Queen’s Awards for Enterprise 2019, one of the highest accolades for UK businesses.

The awards are designed to recognise and encourage outstanding achievements in the fields of Innovation, International Trade, Sustainable Development and Promoting Opportunity.

Redditch-based business Thorlux Lighting have been able to win an award this year for their efforts in Innovation with their SmartScan technology. Both JMDA Ltd and Seada Technology received their Queen’s awards for their success in International trade.

To celebrate the success of the county and to encourage even more businesses to join the illustrious list next year, the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce was delighted to host its annual Queen’s Award information evening at St Michael’s Hospice on Wednesday 8 May.

The event welcomed over 30 local businesses to find out more about the application process, providing delegates with the chance to hear from Mike Keel, CEO at St Michael’s Hospice, Major Patrick Darling, the Vice Lord Lieutenant and two previous Queen’s Award winners.

Speaking of the event, Major Patrick Darling commented: “There are so many more businesses with the right criteria to win a coveted Queen’s Award and I would encourage them to try. The benefits the awards bring to business both outwardly and inwardly are well worth the effort of applying.”

To enter the Queens Awards 2020, visit the gov.uk website before 10 September 2019.
