Worcestershire based entrepreneur Nikki Hollier has beaten off stiff competition to see her garden border design kit business ‘Border in a Box’ named as a winner in the 2017 My Country Business Awards by Country Homes & Interiors.
The annual Awards are all about promoting and empowering the new generation of creative businesses who are living and working in the British countryside. The awards have been going for eight years and are aimed at helping all kinds of designer-makers, food producers and lifestyle businesses to achieve their dreams.
Nikki Hollier, founder and creator of Border in a Box said ‘I’m over the moon! A national award like this means so much to a small business like mine and it really helps get my unique gardening gift noticed in a busy marketplace’.
The idea for Border in a Box came about when Nikki moved into a new-build property with a small uninspiring garden and didn’t know how or where to start in creating a pretty space. So after retraining as a garden designer at Pershore Horticultural College & the Cotswold Gardening School, the idea turned into a new business. Nikki wanted to help everyone create a lovely garden, which was easy to do, in less than a day and without the designer price tag.
Nikki went on to say ‘When I moved into my house, I would have loved a kit showing me what plant goes where as it would have saved a lot of time and money by buying the right plants for the right place, that look good together and are easy to maintain’.
As part of the prize package Nikki will appear in the November edition of the magazine and receive mentoring by Oxfordshire based Garden Trading to advise on how to grow the business and will also attend the Country Homes & Interiors magazine event next year to showcase Border in a Box.
Border in a Box is available to buy online from Borderinabox.net and Amazon, and also in the gift shop at St Peters Garden Centre and The Walled Gardens at Croome.
