This week (18-22 May) is Export Week where UK Trade and Investment (UKTi) has been promoting the many opportunities with regards to exporting. Worcestershire is ideally placed with transport links for international trade and I would encourage businesses who haven’t exported previously, to consider the opportunities that this could provide to your company.
It was my pleasure to present the Young Enterprise Awards earlier this month (5 May 2015), a fantastic scheme which really does increase the entrepreneurial culture of the young people in our County. There are opportunities for local businesses to be further involved so that this scheme can be offered more widely through all educational establishments and it would be fantastic if we could all really get behind this scheme.
Innovation Wednesday sessions are an excellent opportunity to find out more about innovation across Worcestershire, see presentations about new developments and opportunities and to network with like-minded business people. Guest speakers also provide specialised insight with the next three sessions focusing on: Advanced Manufacturing (17 June), Sport (15 July) and International Opportunities (19 August). The deadline for applying for a share of £300,000 of funding from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) is now approaching. It is advisable for Worcestershire’s horticultural owners and businesses to ensure they apply at the earliest opportunity before 19 June 2015 and please do visit our website to find out more.
