Update from Worcestershire LEP Chief Executive, Gary Woodman: October 2018

As we approach the end of the year I would like to talk about some fantastic events which have taken place including the Worcestershire Business Central Inspiring Growth conference. The event had a great turn out and businesses were able to hear examples of how to create growth. Following on from this success, Worcestershire Business Central will be hosting new business development roundtable events across the county and I would encourage businesses to sign up to their local event.

Of course, there are plenty of other events on the way to help support business growth. I would like to remind businesses to register for our Worcestershire LEP Annual Conference which already has over 300 registered attendees. This year’s conference is set to cover some of the latest innovative developments for the county and tackle how the LEP has been able to help businesses to overcome some of the key challenges that they have been facing. We will once again be handing out the newly developed Worcestershire LEP Annual Report to all those that attend.

It was great to see the launch of another key skills facility for the county with Heart of Worcestershire College’s Centre of Digital Engineering (CoDE). Investment in state of the art facilities like CoDE will enable Worcestershire to continue developing the digital technology skills required for the future of the local workforce.

We are delighted to see that the Agritech business roundtable event at Pershore College was well attended with nearly 60 delegates in the room. The event brought together figures from business, government departments and education to discuss their views on where the industry is going and what can be further done to continue the success of this key sector for Worcestershire.
