Update from Worcestershire LEP Chief Executive, Gary Woodman: February 2018

Our February newsletter contains a number of exciting business opportunities for the weeks and months ahead. I would like to start with how great it is to see continuing investment in our local growth fund helping to drive the growing success of our local Growth Deal investments, including Worcester Six. Only a couple of weeks ago, it was announced that Spire Healthcare will be taking a place at the Worcester Six business park. I am delighted that the UK’s largest private hospital provider has secured a space on the new site, and this expansion will help to create plenty more jobs for Worcestershire.

As always, there is plenty of opportunity to have your say on the local business environment and help shape the future developments within your sector. I would encourage manufacturing businesses to give their comments on the Manufacturing Barometer survey for Winter 2017/2018 and help provide a better understanding on manufacturers’ priorities.

There is additional support available for start-up businesses in Worcestershire and the wider West Midlands, with new BCRS business loans available for local post revenue start-up businesses. There is more information on the £17million total fund in our newsletter here.

A great event on the horizon I would encourage businesses to attend is the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce ‘Be Cyber Secure’ Conference in March. This event provides support on areas like IT security, proactive defence and GDPR. This is a great chance to also get tips on how you can implement these to keep your business safe.

And finally I would like to ask businesses to save the date for our WLEP18 conference, which is taking place on the 30 November 2018 at the Chateau Impney. We have received some fantastic feedback on the progress we are making at Worcestershire LEP and I look forward to showing you more of the positive impact it is having at our conference later this year.
