Update from Worcestershire LEP Chief Executive, Gary Woodman: November 2017

I am delighted to confirm that Technology expert, Dave Coplin, will be the keynote speaker at our Worcestershire LEP Annual Conference 2017. Dave Coplin has over 25 years of experience in providing strategic advice and guidance on the impact of technology and how to achieve its full potential. I would urge all local businesses to register for our event and gain the latest news on our priorities for boosting the economy further and ensuring long-term prosperity for the county as a whole.

All three previous Worcestershire Apprentices of the Year will be speaking at our conference and I am looking forward to seeing the 2017 winner crowned at this week’s Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards 2017. The awards are set to welcome a record 360 people with 30 of the best apprentices, employers, training providers and schools shortlisted for awards.

There are also some big celebrations at Heart of Worcestershire College (HoW College) this month after they won the award for Excellent Practice in Further Education at the ‘NASEN’ Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Awards.  Having invested in the College’s recently-opened Special Educational Needs facility ‘The Base’, we have been able to see first-hand how the College is making a hugely positive impact on the lives of young people.

There are two more events that I would recommend to local businesses. Our tourism pie and pint workshops are a great chance for businesses to gain more information on EU funding opportunities suitable for their businesses.  To see some of the fantastic cyber businesses we have locally, I would recommend visiting the Three Counties Defence and Security Expo 2018 at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern. The event will provide a fantastic opportunity to network and grow your business.
