A US cyber delegation from Maryland has joined cyber companies from across the Midlands Engine for the first day of this year’s Info Security Europe 2017 event in London.
Maryland business delegates were welcomed by companies and representatives from the Midlands Engine at Info Security Europe 2017, which is set to draw over 13,000 visitors. When visiting the Midlands Cyber exhibition stand, the American business delegation and Info Security attendees heard about the large number of investment opportunities available in the Midlands’ cyber sector, as well as the region’s developing capabilities across the cyber sector.
The US delegation’s visit between 5-9 June 2017, follows the success of last year’s successful cyber trade mission to Maryland. Delegates from Maryland will also join Midlands companies on 21 June to sign a Memorandum of Understanding, formalising the cyber sector’s long future business partnership with the USA.
Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), Marches LEP and Hereford Enterprise Zone are hosting the return mission from Baltimore, Maryland in partnership with the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce. The delegation forms part of a programme of trade and investment missions between the Midlands and US between 2016-18.
Gary Woodman, Chief Executive of Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “We’re delighted to welcome the Maryland delegates to the Midlands for the first time, to see the world class businesses we have located in the area. We are starting the delegation at the fantastic Infosec event to give the US businesses an insight into the innovative and dynamic companies we have in the Midlands and across the country. We’ll be spreading the message that Worcestershire and the wider Midlands is a serious contender for investors to locate a cyber business.”
