” Welcome to the Worcestershire LEP’s August 2020 Newsletter. This month has been rather busy, despite it being seen as the staycation season that we are seeing now. Our Getting Building Fund of £12 Million was announced with 12 projects, on our website for people to look at it, that we are supporting. We are not only taking the Government’s £12m as part of the fund, but also we are matching that with not just private sector match, but some public sector match as well. So we have a pretty hefty programme over the next 18 months which totals nearly £70m. So really effective and delivering a number of programmes across the county, do log onto our website and have a look.
Obviously we have seen the exam results come out out, and it gives our 18 – 24 year olds lots of opportunities. Don’t just think Sixth Form and College is the only way for me to go, obviously apprenticeships and university, there are lots of options there and if you are looking for some careers advice, whether you are a parent or young person, then I’d really encourage you to have a look at our careers helpline, give them a call, have a look online. There is plenty of advice and help out there, particularly if you are thinking of going straight into the world of training or work.
Friday 14 August saw the launch of the Make It Worcestershire campaign, based on the Food and Drink sector at this stage. It was launched at Bells’ Farm Shop in Stourport. Fantastic range of local produce on offer and we’ve backed that up with a Saturday Times Article in their Eat piece, where we are promoting the Worcestershire produce and a place to come and visit and even take a staycation at. So we are really attracting those people in to sample our local produce and goods, which are of the highest quality obviously with the Food and Drink Association and there is more information on the One Worcestershire website.
Look out in the future for upcoming campaigns, on the 8 September we have BetaDen’s Tech Tuesday which is focused on security by design and drone technology. But equally have a look on the Worcestershire LEP website part of our governance, we produce an Annual Report and a Delivery Plan, those are now published and you can have a look at what we have delivered in the last finance year and what we are delivering this year, with a financial statement.
Finally, congratulations to The Kiln for their first birthday, good to see they are going strong during these COVID times. I hope you are staying safe, remember catch it, wash your hands and kill it. ”
