Hello, and welcome to the February, Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership newsletter. As the New Year gets underway, the weeks seem to be passing really quickly. Business confidence from our recent business survey seems to be very buoyant but we know that there are some pinch points in the national economy that are affecting us locally.
Also, Government issued the Levelling Up white paper and welcome that in terms of the role of the LEPs going forward and we’ll obviously be working with our partners in central and local Government to kind of bring some of those thing’s fruition.
Here in Worcestershire however we’ve been carrying on with things such as national apprenticeship week, thank you to all who participated raising the profile of apprenticeships here in Worcestershire. There are early indications that all our work Is paying off, as we see an increase in vacancies and people taking them up, so that’s really good news because there are plenty of fantastic opportunities our there to start as the apprentice and work up, as Lord Sugar would say. On the same theme as skills, it’s the Apprenticeship Awards that we’ve just announced, so entries are now open with the closing deadline of the 15th of July.
Its also good to see Betaden North and a focus on clean technology, therefore not just the new green sectors but any sector that’s looking to reduce carbon and move towards net zero, there are some workshops that are available. Please go to the website to register if you’re interested, there are fantastic advisors there available for all businesses of all shapes and sizes.
As always, we’re seeing the business environment with cohort five about to be announced for BetaDen, and alumni from previous cohorts, CoHo have raised investments through the Midland’s Engine Investment Fund. Again, if you want to know more either come to our enquiries email address or have a look on the website.
In terms of Growth Hub, the specialist advisors are still working with plenty of businesses locally and that offer runs up until the end of March. So, if you’re looking for advice on either marketing, finance, reducing your waste, whatever the issue, give the Growth Hub a ring, they’re available for any business, of any size or any shape and any sector.
Finally, we see the capital investment so Pershore northern link progressing really well and the getting building fund projects, coming to fruition as we head towards the end of the financial year, so excellent work that’s being done there by our partners in terms of delivering those excellent projects around the county.
Looking forward into March we have a number of other events going on with the LEP and the Growth Hub, keep an eye out on our newsletters but were also partnering with the Chamber on the 24 March for the economic conference, so if you want to have a look at that go to our website for more information.
