Happy New Year and welcome to the January Local Enterprise Partnership newsletter. It’s been a good start to the new year so far here at the LEP and the Growth Hub team. We’ve been, out there talking to lots of businesses and preparation for lots of events, some of which have happened and some of which I’m going to tell you about are coming up in the future.
This week and next week we’ve got TechFest. So this is a new, idea that we’re bringing together those, technology issues. And we’ve got lots of events, a programme of events across the two weeks starting this week, but across next. We’ve had great uptake. There are some limited spaces on the program still available. Get in touch with the team if you’d like to attend. But equally, just watch our airwaves for, some of the outcomes and key messages across Tech Fest. And, but it’ll be good to keep that conversation going as we go forwards.
Worcestershire tourism, had their first conference on the 13th of January, 140 tourism businesses in the room. Great discussion about, the new coming season, the campaigns that, the team are launching, and again, if you want to know more, get in touch with the team and you can find out, what’s going on, how to promote yourself and how to get engaged, with the sector. Or equally, if you’re already in the sector, how to get engaged with Visit Worcestershire.
Keeping the theme of connectivity going. We were really pleased with the announcement of BDUK that allocated £41.5 million to Worcestershire to get gigabit broadband further into our communities. And the county council team will be working with Openreach, who are the contractor to kind of work that program through and how that rolls out. If you want to know more in your local area, get in touch and we’ll put you in touch with the county council team.
Another event that we’ve done is working with trainee teachers to embed kind of careers, obviously, the teaching community, the more we can embed employer engagement and careers into their, training at that stage when they then go into the classroom it just really helps with giving them those local engagements that, can build the curriculum.
A couple of other dates that we’re looking forward to.
National Apprenticeship Week, which is happening in the second week of February. Look out for our events that are taking place.
