Video Update from Worcestershire LEP Chief Executive, Gary Woodman: March 2022

Video Transcript

“Welcome to the March, Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership newsletter. There’s been lots going on as we come to the end of the financial year, it has been a week now since the spring statement. What we’ve seen is obviously some measures to ease the inflation and cost of living that were announced, but also the announcement of the review of the apprenticeship levy. We are really keen to work with our local businesses who pay the levy, to see what reforms that they think would go in and obviously, those will get factored into the autumn statement that the Chancellor will refer back to.

In March we started the business awards, congratulations to all the Worcestershire Tourism award winners and we had two regional award winners from the Federation of Small Businesses West Midlands awards, so those will go onto the National finals. It’s great to see our Worcestershire businesses in these conditions, picking up awards, I think that’s fantastic.

Moving on in terms of LEP news, cohort 5 are now fully embedded into BetaDen and BetaDen North applications have got to be in by midday on the 4th of April. If you want more information, don’t hesitate to go onto our website.

Throughout March we have also seen successful careers weeks and our campaign that employers need you. This really links into our LEP survey that we are just about to launch, that is looking at your growth conditions and the issues that are important to business. We know the fuel cost and we know that wage cost are really a pressure at this time, but having that longer look at some of the pressures across businesses. Our survey is going out to you soon and therefore we look forward to your feedback and presenting those results in May.

Thank you for engaging with the newsletter, hope it’s a good read and look forward to seeing you in April.”
