Video Update from Worcestershire LEP Chief Executive, Gary Woodman: November 2023

Video Transcript

Welcome to the Worcestershire LEP’s November newsletter. It’s as per usual this time of year. It’s absolutely packed with lots of things going on. Last week was obviously the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement and if you’ve got any issues or questions related to that, contact our Growth Hub team who’ll be happy to help. Also, in the early part of the month, I was down in London for the National Scale Up review.

Fantastic to see how we compare with other areas across the whole country.

We also had are Worcestershire Apprenticeships Awards and a fantastic night was had by all. And congratulations to our winners, Open GI, our Apprentice Employer of the year, and Cameron Gallamore from Doncasters, he’s our Apprentice of the year. Congratulations to both of them.

Also had our series of inclusive employment events. These have been really well valued by those who’ve attended and we’re seeing the numbers grow in terms of businesses engaging with how they can diversify their workforce. A really important issue given our kind of labour market and the labour market conditions. And I encourage you to kind of book now if you want to know more, go to our website.

The BetaDen team are also running some workshops, for those people who are looking at developing apps. This is taking place in Wyre Forest in early December. Have a look at their website if you want to book on. There’s still limited spaces available.

And finally, the Local Enterprise Partnership will be bringing together its partners and the business community on the 23rd of February for our annual review. We will welcome you and therefore save the date for more information to follow in the New Year.
