Video Update from Worcestershire LEP Chief Executive, Gary Woodman: September 2023

Video Transcript

Hello, and welcome to September’s Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership newsletter. It’s, as per usual, packed with loads of stories and information on what’s been going on during the last month and also what’s coming ahead.

In the last month, we’ve seen Cohort seven arrive at BetaDen. So welcome to those eight founders who are now going to go on that journey to make their idea move from just an idea into commercialization. And what we’ve also seen is a series of workshops to explain the UK Shared Prosperity Fund as part of government, where we’re working in partnership with the District Councils and the County Council, the Growth Hub, to actually communicate out there the business grants that are available over the next 18 months. But again, you can have a look at the website and find out more information on what business grants are available. Go to the Growth Hub team.

Always, this is a great opportunity to give the LEP’s professional advisors a plug. So if it’s not just about grants, actually information and advice by professional business advisors and subject experts means that you can pick that up for free. And certainly when I was at the workshop, a couple of people came to me who were charities and they were asking about can they access support? And the answer is yes. So do give the team a call, ask them the questions and access the information and advice.

I was also really pleased to see the Worcestershire Apprenticeships finalists announced as we head now to the awards ceremony in November. Good luck to those finalists. And again, it’s that usual high standard across the categories. Here in Worcestershire, we really celebrate apprenticeships well. And the take up has been fantastic.

A couple of forthcoming dates for your diary. Is the Careers and Apprenticeship shows both in Worcester and Redditch, this time in Worcester on the 5th of October and in Redditch on the 17th of October. Again, go to the website or the news story within the newsletter, click the link to find out more and you are available then to attend that. Whether your year, 9, year 10 or equally parent or guardian or just a business looking to come on along to see how we promote careers and apprentices to our young people in Worcestershire and then finally on the 12th of October is the Chamber Expo at the Malvern Hills Showground.

Thank you. Another busy month and I look forward to meeting you across the next four weeks. Thank you.
