Two Worcestershire-based entrepreneurs have launched a new initiative to celebrate local women living and working in the county.
The Wonderful Worcestershire Women Awards are being spear-headed by Sarah Mayo-Evans, Director at Peach Recruitment and Julia Williams, Director at Premier Places.
The Awards follow the success of Wonderful Worcestershire Women, an event hosted by the pair in March, which saw over 100 local female businesswomen come together for a day of networking and business-inspiring presentations.
The Awards, to be held in April 2016, will recognise:
- Female Owned Business Of The Year
- Female One-Woman Business Of The Year
- Employee Of The Year
- Volunteer Of The Year
- Young Woman In Business (16-24 years)
- Significant Achievement (Personal or Business)
The Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership is encouraging local businesses to make their nominations and show support for the awards. Nominations can be made from Monday 5th October by visiting the Wonderful Worcestershire Women website.
The short-list will be announced in January at The Quay in Worcester, an event which the organisers expect to be a sell-out.
Sarah Mayo-Evans, Director at Peach Recruitment said, ‘The Wonderful Worcestershire Women Awards set out to recognise and reward females for their contribution to the county; be it running a successful business, working tirelessly for others or being an inspiration through significant personal or business achievement.’
Julia Williams, Director at Premier Places said, ‘This initiative represents the inspirational women of Worcestershire who balance and juggle their lives relentlessly, supporting their communities and playing such a pivotal role in developing our local economy.’
‘We encourage everyone to nominate any female that has inspired them and share their story and experience.’
The short-list will be announced at an event to be held on Tuesday 12th January, 10am – 12pm at Browns @ The Quay, Worcester. Tickets cost £20 per person, are now available, and can be purchased on the eventbrite website.
The Awards ceremony will be held on Friday 29th April at Worcestershire County Cricket Club from 12pm.
