On 31 October, representatives from the Worcestershire 5G Consortium attended the World Communication Awards ceremony, where the Consortium was shortlisted for the 5G Leadership Award. Competition was fierce, with the Consortium up against world leaders in 5G development including BT Mission Critical Use Cases, KT: Pyeongchang 5G and 5G-Crosshaul.

Building from this, Chair of the Consortium, Mark Stansfeld was recently featured on The LEP Network, Leader Views, explaining the impact that 5G technology will have on productivity levels in the UK. It is estimated that 5G will be able to increase productivity by 1% for manufacturing businesses in the UK, this would mean billions to the UK economy. The consortium will also be exhibiting and speaking at the Worcestershire LEP Annual Conference on the 30 November, where chair Mark Stansfeld will be opening the conference and inviting consortium members to discuss with the delegates in attendance how the consortium is pioneering in solving the connectivity challenges that businesses are facing across the county.
