Worcestershire 5G Consortium have been shortlisted for the ‘5G Leadership’ category at the 2019 World Communication Awards.
The winners will be announced at the awards dinner at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms, London on the 30 October 2019. The Consortium were also shortlisted in the previous year’s awards and received the ‘highly commended’ award in 5G leadership in 2018.
The Worcestershire 5G Consortium have already established the country’s most comprehensive industrial 5G Testbed trial with a team of 5G specialists and business experts pioneering the concept of ‘Industry 4.0’.
The Worcestershire 5G Testbed reached a landmark achievement earlier this year after switching on the UK’s first live 5G factory trials at the global manufacturer Worcester Bosch. As a huge step towards achieving Industry 4.0, the factory trials enabled Worcester Bosch to test 5G for improved factory output, exploring preventative maintenance and predicting failure.
For 21 years the World Communication Awards have recognised innovation and excellence for global telecoms, and continues to be the most revered mark of achievement in the telecom industry. Organised by Total Telecom, the World Communication Awards are an annual programme that launches in March and runs for a full twelve months.
