Worcestershire businesses back Apprenticeships

Over 40 Worcestershire businesses attended advice clinics around hiring apprentices.

As recruitment continues to be a challenge for many organisations, Worcestershire Growth Hub and Worcestershire Apprenticeships joined forces to deliver advice clinics on apprenticeships.

The clinics, one held in Bromsgrove and the second in Worcester, provided businesses with the chance to speak directly with advisors about their business situation, understand more about apprenticeships and how they could benefit their business.

As well as this, the Worcestershire Growth Hub team was able to provide information on the wider business support landscape and the funding available to help businesses.

The employer advice clinics follow the announcement of the new WA Account system which makes the process of applying for an apprenticeship easier, by bringing all the training providers together into one simple system. Alongside this, individuals who undertaken an apprenticeship via the WA Account may be eligible for a £500 bursary to support them with key expenses.

Judy Gibbs, Director of Skills for Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership and Head of Service for Skills and Investment at Worcestershire County Council, said: “We know that Apprenticeships are a great pathway for both employers looking to grow their workforce and for those starting their career or looking to upskill themselves. This is why we have provided advice for employers to understand the benefits and launched the WA Account and Bursary system to support individuals.

“There is a variety of support available, for both employers and individuals and I strongly encourage anyone interested in apprenticeships to contact us and see how we can help you.”

Luke Willetts, Deputy CEO for Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership and lead for Worcestershire Growth Hub, added: “The Worcestershire Growth Hub team is regularly engaging with businesses and hearing about the challenges many face when it comes to recruiting new staff and growing their operation. Apprenticeships are a great option that can benefit an organisation and it was great to be able to deliver these 1-to-1 clinics and help numerous employers.

“The Worcestershire Growth Hub can support your business and I’d recommend any business looking for support to contact our team in the first instance.”
