Worcestershire Innovation Wednesdays prove popular

Businesses are being encouraged to secure their place at one of the next three Worcestershire Innovation Wednesday sessions.

‘Worcestershire Innovation Wednesdays’, which are held each month to showcase innovation across Worcestershire, present new developments and opportunities as well as provide an opportunity for like-minded business people to network.

The sessions provide a space for businesses and experts to come together to share ideas and thoughts about innovation and creativity with guest speakers providing specialist insight.

The concept which is proving popular, was initiated by QinetiQ, the experts in defence, aerospace and security, the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce and Worcestershire County Council.

Last month’s session (17 June) which focused on Advanced Manufacturing was hosted by Yamazaki Mazak UK Ltd, Worcester and attracted an audience of just under 100 attendees.

Places are limited and businesses are being encouraged to register at the earliest opportunity for the next three sessions, each of which have a different focus:

  • Sport: 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm on July 15, 2015 at Worcestershire County Cricket Club, Worcester
  •  International Trade Opportunities: 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm on August 19, 2015 at QinetiQ, Malvern
  • Tourism: 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm on September 16, 2015 at West Midland Safari Park, Kidderminster.

Future dates for the diary include: October 14, November 11, and December 9.

Gary Woodman, Executive Director of Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “These free events have been welcomed by the business community as they are an excellent opportunity for businesses to network with like-minded individuals, share information on new processes and learn about opportunities for innovative business practices.

“Worcestershire Innovation Wednesdays are open to anyone who is interested in improving business practices and so do book your place today.”

Keith Mowbray, Strategic Business Development Director of QinetiQ Ltd, added: “QinetiQ’s ethos is one of innovation and we welcomed the opportunity to work with organisations and businesses to launch Worcestershire Innovation Wednesday and we look forward to hosting the August event.

“The feedback from attendees has been fantastic and what is clear is that there is a real need to come together and discuss with peers how best to develop ideas. The sessions are proving popular and I would encourage interested parties to register at the earliest opportunity and we look forward to welcoming even more people to future sessions.”
