Budding innovators in Worcestershire are being encouraged to share their business ideas and take the chance to make their dreams a reality.
The ‘Make It Happen’ challenge is targeting Worcestershire’s growing innovation community, offering participants an opportunity to showcase their vision for new and exciting products and services.
The winning proposal will receive a cash prize of £5,000 and access to free business support worth £10,000, providing the perfect platform to develop their ideas and bring them to the market with the help of professional advice and assistance.
Led by ‘Worcestershire Innovation’ (WINN), the challenge is designed to promote innovative thinking across the county and support local businesses. Sponsors include Areca Design, BrandRefinery, Charles Lovell & Co, DT Studios, Freshnous, IDR Consultants, Online Media Works, QBD, The Kiln and Thursfields Solicitors.
Jess Antley, Senior Project Manager at WINN said; ‘We are proud that the ‘Make It Happen’ challenge is returning for its second year, and really pleased that we are able to offer the winner an even bigger prize package to support their journey.’
Applicants are invited to submit their proposals from 19 June, with the deadline for submissions being 12pm on 31 July 2019. The winner will be announced at a special ‘Show Me the Money’ event held by WINN on Wednesday 11 September 2019.
The 2019 challenge will be officially launched at WINN’s forthcoming ‘Great Things’ event, taking place on the 18th June at the Sixways Stadium. Former winner Nikki Hollier will be speaking at the official launch and will be sharing her journey as the inaugural ‘Make it Happen’ winner.
Nikki’s innovative ‘Border In A Box’ was the competition winner in 2018, a ready-made garden kit that provides a template for a garden border, showing users which plant goes where and providing a handy shopping list of items to buy from the garden centre!
Nikki said; ‘Winning the WINN Challenge was the perfect confidence booster at a time when I really needed to push my business forward. It gave me the reassurance that people believed in me and my brand and it enabled me to meet other innovative individuals, some of whom have provided me with invaluable support and guidance on my branding, packaging and PR.’
