Worcestershire LEP Chair, Mark Stansfeld 03 Sep:

This week, I would again like to focus my column on the upcoming clean energy and sustainability events that are taking place on the 20th September. There are two events and they present an opportunity for businesses and the wider Worcestershire community to get involved with the issue of Climate Change.

Firstly, we have the national Net Zero Carbon Battlebus, stopping in Worcester, at the University Arena as part of their tour leading up to the UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) event.

This event will help further emphasise and educate around the issue of global warming and what we can all do to help minimise its impact. This is a free to attend event open to all. Attendees will also be able to hear carbon success stories of the efforts made by organisations within Worcestershire towards reducing their impact on the world.

We are also aware that making changes can be difficult and for organisations and businesses, sometimes there is a need for support or advice on how best to make changes. Therefore the LEP and Growth Hub will be running a business breakfast event, also on 20th September and also at the University.

The purpose of the breakfast is to shine a spotlight on the support programmes and funds available to help Worcestershire businesses to make these clean energy changes.

We are encouraging businesses of all sizes to come along to the breakfast to hear more about these various support grants and schemes, attendees will also be able to hear from the Worcestershire Growth Hub’s Green Energy and Sustainability advisor, The Clean Tech Business Group.

They are our expert Green Energy and Sustainability advisor, available to help businesses of any size with making sustainable changes.

These are two fantastic events that follow on from each other, so businesses can attend in the morning to learn about the support schemes available, and then join the wider community discussion about why those sustainability changes are so important to creating a sustainable future for all.

There are spaces remaining on both events and those interested can register on the links here –
