Worcestershire LEP Chair, Mark Stansfeld: 11 December

First published in the Worcester News on 11.12.2020

As we are now only two weeks away from Christmas, I would like to encourage readers to support local businesses where they can.

A recent article explained that spending £10 in Worcestershire this Christmas could boost the Worcestershire economy by £2.5M and make a huge difference to businesses which have struggled in this uncertain year.

It is important to do what we can to support our local businesses whilst following the national guidance and keeping everyone safe.

Many local businesses have been able to open their doors again, but many have also adapted their services to offer delivery and postage options. This means that Worcestershire residents can continue to support independent businesses without having to leave their homes.

Alongside supporting our local businesses, I would again like to encourage any organisations reading this to get in touch with Worcestershire Business Central if they need support during this time.

The team can help advise, signpost and help businesses with accessing the various support packages, grants and funding streams available, both from local Government and National Government.

There is still a lot of support available and the team at Worcestershire Business Central have the information to help organisations understand which packages are best for them.

The team have already been working and engaging with many businesses across the county and they are still on hand in the build-up to Christmas and in the new year to support companies.
