I am delighted to see more fantastic progress on our local Growth Deal projects which are set to have a visibly positive impact for many in the local area.

I am pleased that detailed plans have now been revealed for the transformation of the Kidderminster Railways Station, a project that we have invested £2.5m of Government’s Growth Deal funds into.

This exciting redevelopment includes plans for a new glass-fronted station that is double the size of the existing building as well as including significant improvements to nearby pedestrian and bus facilities. Kidderminster station was used by 1.6 million people last year and I am therefore delighted that we have been able to fund such an exciting modernisation along with our partners.

We’re also now fast approaching the launch of Worcester’s Cathedral Square development on Friday 28 July.

We have invested £500,000 of Government’s Growth Deal funding into the development which will help to boost tourism spend into the local economy and create hundreds of jobs locally. Surrounded by the iconic views of the Worcester Cathedral and the Sir Edward Elgar statue, Cathedral Square really is in the ideal location for attracting footfall for businesses and providing an enjoyable experience for tourists.

I am delighted that the development has drawn in some well-known brands including a brand new Wilko, a new Fitness4less gym, Byron hamburgers, ASK pizza, Yo! Sushi, as well as an extension to H&M.

We will be discussing our Growth Deal project developments and exciting plans for growing Worcestershire’s prosperity in the future at this year’s Worcestershire LEP Conference 2017, taking place on 1 December.
