Worcestershire LEP Chair, Mark Stansfeld: 16 October

This week has been the Worcestershire LEP’s Virtual Conference 2020.

We didn’t want to let the challenges of COVID-19 stop us from sharing and discussing the important programmes and projects we are delivering with partners around the county, so we opted to bring the conference online and delivered it virtually throughout this week.

Covering 5 key business challenges and interests broken down into a topic on each day this week. We looked at Skills and employment, infrastructure developments both digital and physical, what the Future Economy will look like, Healthy Worcestershire and how businesses have coped with the past few months and finally, we ended with a detailed review of our One Worcestershire approach.

My highlight of each day was our special episode at lunchtime. Carrying the theme of the day, we spoke with a plethora of guests from both the public and private sector to emphasize the work we have achieved, what benefits this will bring and what the future ambitions are.

Each day we had large numbers of guests joining these lunchtime sessions where they were able to hear important updates and compete in polls and answer questions at the same time.

I cannot stress enough how important it was to get this feedback from our viewers as it helps us to tune our 2040 vision to try and provide as much support as possible to our local community.

Even though the Virtual Conference is over, we still want to keep communicating. That is why I would encourage anyone who was unable to join us or joined us and is looking for more, to stay tuned to our website over the next coming weeks as we make the content from this week more accessible.
