Digital technology continues to be highly important for the growth of all local businesses and there are a number of opportunities currently available to strengthen the use of technology within your company.

Firstly, if you haven’t already heard, local businesses have the opportunity to apply for the new Superfast Worcestershire ‘Gigabit Voucher’ scheme.

The Gigabit Voucher scheme is run by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport and was launched as part of a national £67m funded programme. The scheme will provide the fastest broadband connection available and the vouchers can be used by eligible businesses to claim up to £3000 towards the installation of the gigabit connection, which is around 1000mbps.

Communities can benefit from the Voucher scheme with up to £2500 per business and £500 per residential premises. Funding is being allocated quickly so it is encouraged to register your interest as soon as possible.

I am pleased to see that Worcestershire has already seen considerable success with the scheme and 214 vouchers have already been issued, amounting to £470,000.

I would encourage all interested businesses to get in touch with the Superfast Worcestershire team by emailing superfast@worcestershire.gov.uk or phoning 01905 846432

We are also inviting local companies to attend a Digital Technology event so that they can receive the latest advice and expert knowledge to benefit their business needs.

The event will be taking place from 9:30am on 27 June at Yamazaki Mazak and is free to attend for manufacturing, engineering and technology companies. Attendees will be able to learn about a variety of digital tools that can help their business, as well as discover more about data analytics and how to engage with the growing online community.
