I would like to congratulate all Worcestershire companies who have been shortlisted in the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce businesses awards final. The awards received over 100 entries and reflects the fantastic quality of businesses that we can boast in Worcestershire. I know that the Chamber’s Business Awards are always fantastic occasions for celebrating the achievements of our local companies and I look forward to this year’s event taking place on Thursday 15 June at the Worcester Arena. Next month we’ll have the opportunity to promote Worcestershire to millions when the Redditch Tour Series arrives on Tuesday 9 May. Last year’s event received 2.4 million viewers on ITV4 and over 2 million impressions on Twitter and there are still opportunities for businesses to sponsor the event. Not only are the sponsorship packages a fantastic opportunity for businesses to profile themselves, the event also brings a major boost to the local economy and more than £400,000 was spent in Redditch last year by visitors and cycling enthusiasts. Retail is set for a boost in Worcester also with the new Cathedral Square development nearing completion.
