Worcestershire is excelling in terms of growing high level workforce skills, productivity and prosperity and recent progress in the county’s Growth Deal projects will help to continue this trend.

In just the last week we have seen a great amount of progress on Growth Deal projects, helping to improve the county’s infrastructure and skills base and ultimately boost the local economy. Last week, Mark Garnier MP officially opened Hoobrook Link Road and a large number of businesses across the county are already benefitting from improved journey times, thanks to the crucial transport link. Earlier this week it was announced that a contractor has now been appointed for the Worcestershire Parkway Station and Buckingham Group Contracting Ltd will be delivering the scheme. Also this week, Pershore College announced their ambitious plans to revolutionise the innovation and productivity of our local agri-tech and horticulture industry with their new research and experimentation facilities and equipment. More information on these projects are available on our website, www.wlep.co.uk.

It is important that we work together to find new ways to help local businesses overcome any barriers to growth and there are currently a couple of opportunities for companies to provide feedback on the business environment. Government recently launched its Industrial Strategy to boost the national economy, improve living standards and drive growth across the Country and businesses are being asked to give their comments about the strategy. I would urge all interested parties to take this opportunity to voice their opinions on the strategy as it really is important to make sure that your business’ voice is heard nationally. Companies also have a chance to provide feedback on the local business environment as the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce’s latest QES 2017 survey is now open and I would urge that you provide your feedback by the 13 March deadline. A link to these surveys are also available on our website www.wlep.co.uk.
