This week I would like to focus my column on the COP26 conference in Glasgow taking place next week until the 12th November.

As a LEP, to prepare for the COP26 event and to support the journey to NetZero, we have been working with partners across the county to bring the work taking place within the county to the forefront.

You will remember that I mentioned a few weeks back that we were able to support the visit of the UK’s Net Zero Carbon Tour Bus to the county. The tour visit coincided with a business support event with the Growth Hub where over 50 businesses attended to learn more about the support funds and programmes available to help reach Net Zero.

Following on from that, the team have created a new digital web page which provides more detail on the various programmes, funds and support news/events that the Worcestershire LEP, Growth Hub and wider partners across the county have been delivering to support the county’s journey towards Net Zero with Clean Energy and Sustainability.

This page also includes the county’s energy strategy and our new podcast series ‘Alex in the Green Room’. This new series sees our Energy Project Lead speaking with various partners to understand and highlight challenges, delivery work and discuss opportunities around Green energy and sustainability for Worcestershire.

The series is having more episodes added every few days and I would encourage the community to engage with the series and learn more about what is taking place and how they can be involved in more sustainability conversations in the future.

Following this, Green energy is a key part of our Plan for Growth vision for the county as we head towards 2040. Readers can also access this document to learn about what the LEP and partners are striving to achieve by 2040.
