This week I am delighted to be able to announce that this year’s Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards will be going ahead after a hiatus in 2020.
Working with Worcestershire County Council, we have delivered the awards since 2014 in a traditional awards ceremony style. However, as you can imagine, this year we need to make some adaptions to deliver the celebration event in the current climate.
The Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards 2021 will be taking place in an online format in November. It will be a three-day celebration to showcase the county’s very best employers and apprentices from the last two years, but also recognise the other partners involved in making apprenticeships a success.
The decision to move the awards online is a difficult one, but due to safety concerns around COVID-19, this is the best way for us to celebrate the awards for 2021.
The key message I would like to pass onto readers is that nominations are open until July 30th, and after having to cancel the 2020 awards, this year we are welcoming nominations from the previous two years.
If you are a business who employs apprentices, an apprentice yourself or know someone who is an apprentice, I would encourage you to inform them to get involved with the Worcestershire Apprenticeships Awards. The awards are a fantastic opportunity to recognise those who are making a difference and helping both businesses and importantly young people to succeed in their careers.
We’ve also launched a new award specifically to recognise the strength of apprentices throughout the pandemic. The ‘Apprentice Resilience’ award is for an apprentice who has shown great spirit of character and resilience in the face of 2020, both professionally and personally and rose to the challenges of the pandemic.
This new award will make a fantastic addition, and those interested can visit the Worcestershire Apprenticeships website to find out about all the categories available and see the criteria for each award. You can even submit your nomination or entry through the website as well.
