Worcestershire Youth Hub’s exceptional work recognised

During December Career Worcestershire was visited by Helene Dearne (OBE) from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), who commended the exceptional work of Worcestershire’s Youth Hub.

The Youth Hub team are proud to announce that their hub has been recognised among the top performers in the country.  Receiving this recognition adds a significant endorsement to the impactful work being done in the Worcestershire Youth Hub.

The collaboration with local partners and businesses reflects a holistic approach to addressing the needs of both young people and the workforce in the region.

The Youth Hub is one of 110 hubs nationally aimed to provide support for young people enhance their employment opportunities. Since the July 2022 Worcestershire’s Youth Hub has supported over 600 young people and 170 people into employment working with over 20 partners in the county to ensure young people are equipped with the skills needed  to gain successful employment.

Part of the success within the hub is engagement with local partners and businesses to ensure those career paths and opportunities are known to young people in Worcestershire. The emphasis on engaging with local partners and businesses to create sector-specific job events is a strategic approach. It not only helps young people explore career paths aligned with their interests but also allows businesses to connect with potential candidates who are genuinely interested in the opportunities they offer.

The advisors provide 1:1 support in the hub and working proactively with over 70 young people each week, the team focus on practical aspects such as application support, CV writing, and interview preparation to ensure that young people are well-prepared for the challenges of entering the workforce.

Overall, the Youth Hub’s role as a central hub that brings together young people, partners, and businesses is instrumental in fostering collaboration and ensuring that the workforce in Worcestershire meets the evolving needs of businesses.
