World Class cycle centre development shifts up a gear

Construction of the new Boardman Bikes Performance Centre at The Valley in Evesham is now complete, and the Boardman Bikes team is ready to fit the building out and install a wind tunnel specifically designed for cyclists – the first of its kind in the UK.

The 18,000 square foot complex is due to open in the spring, and will allow both professional and amateur cyclists to optimise their aerodynamic performance and is expected to be a draw for both UK-based and international cyclists.

Worcestershire County Council Cabinet Member responsible for Economy and Infrastructure, Cllr Ken Pollock said: “I’m delighted that development of the new Boardman Bikes Performance Centre in Evesham is progressing well. Having the UK’s first cycling specific wind tunnel at The Valley is great news for Worcestershire. As a county we are very keen to promote cycling, both for recreation and commuting, and the company is a great stimulus for both. The new centre also proves that our county is Open for Business, and, when it is ready for customers in the spring, will undoubtedly put Evesham on the cycling map, by attracting visitors from all across the UK, and, hopefully, beyond.”

In addition to the wind tunnel and performance testing suite, there will also be a showcase bike shop, event space and café. The Performance Centre will further support Worcestershire County Council’s key priorities – promoting health and well-being and Open for Business.
