World Class Worcestershire #WorldClassWorcs
I have recently returned from the Worcestershire Ambassadors’ trade delegation which took the ‘World Class Worcestershire’ message to China and Indonesia. The visit was fruitful and encouraging, strengthening existing business relationships, and it has provided many leads which are being followed up by all concerned. Twitter users can join the Worcestershire conversation now taking place nationally and internationally using #WorldClassWorcs.
We now look forward to the high profile investment event we are hosting on Monday in London. Organisations from across the County will be showcasing what Worcestershire has to offer to developers, investors and employers who are considering a future in Worcestershire. This event is one of a number of activities as we continue to work with our partners and our businesses to secure long-term prosperity and job creation across the County.
The Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards will be another highlight of next week. These Awards, which are the first of their kind, are sponsored and promoted by Worcestershire County Council and the Local Enterprise Partnership. We were overwhelmed with the quality of the nominations and the ceremony will be a fitting tribute to the hard work of the young people, schools and businesses. I am sure the host, Nick Hewer from BBC’s Apprentice, will also certainly add to the sense of occasion. In 2013/14, Worcestershire saw over 10,000 people actively participating in an apprenticeship programme. This figure, which is more than four times the number in 2011, is still rising and is due to the concerted efforts of business, education and local authorities working together.
Congratulations to all who have been nominated in these Awards and the very best of luck. I would urge businesses that would like to know more about how apprenticeships can benefit their organisation to follow this lead and visit Worcestershire.Business.Central’s website at www.business-central.co.uk to find out more and we may even see your young people in next year’s awards.
