World Class Worcestershire
The most recent figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) found that Worcestershire’s economy was the third highest growth in the UK – only behind Oxfordshire and London. This is great news for Worcestershire and rewards not only the efforts of the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership since its inception, but particularly those of our business community and the local authorities of our county over the full five years.
Now that our massive potential is becoming more evident, work is taking place to further grow the economy and to create more and better jobs across the county. World Class Worcestershire will be represented at the Regen 2015 Conference and Exhibition in Liverpool on 24 and 25 March as we continue to work with partner organisations to raise the profile of Worcestershire regionally, nationally and internationally. In April, we are also bringing to Worcestershire investors, employers and developers who have expressed an interest in a future here, whilst we are anticipating delegations from two Chinese cities in May and June.
I would urge businesses to get involved in the campaign, whether that is via Twitter using #WorldClassWorcs to celebrate local successes, using the investment brochure and video overseas or borrowing World Class Worcestershire display materials for your events. By publicising your own achievements, this gains publicity for your company and also proves that Worcestershire is a world class place to do business – it is a win, win opportunity. If you would like to get further involved, please email enquiries@investinworcestershire.com
Our thanks also to the businesses that have provided feedback on the Worcestershire LEP Business Plan for 2015-2018. All of the feedback received will be considered before the plan is finalised at the LEP Board on 2nd April. The Plan will include ambitious targets to further benefit the long term economy of the County. Onwards and upwards!
